Cast, Plot & First Look: Netflix announces Hansal Mehta’s ‘Family Business’

Netflix has officially announced Hansal Mehta’s next series, ‘Family Business’, led by Anil Kapoor and Vijay Varma, introducing a gripping world where power, inheritance, and betrayal collide. The release date of this Hansal Mehta directorial is yet to be announced.

Netflix unveiled the first look of the show with the line: “New blood meets old money. With immense power at stake, the lines blur between family and business.”
The teaser sets the tone for a turbulent and emotionally charged corporate drama.

At the centre of ‘Family Business’ is a visionary billionaire who handpicks a rising tycoon as his successor to lead India’s largest conglomerate. What begins as a strategic transition quickly turns volatile. A few months into the role, the successor is abruptly dismissed, and the mentor unexpectedly returns to reclaim control.

Unable to accept his downfall, the ousted leader strikes back—launching a fierce, deeply personal war for power. What follows is a tense saga of fractured alliances, exposed secrets, and a ruthless battle that threatens to tear apart one of India’s most respected business dynasties. The series examines how quickly questions of legacy, expectation, and bloodlines can transform corporate succession into a personal vendetta.

The creators describe ‘Family Business’ as a story that delves into “the deeply complicated and messy personal relationships that define every boardroom battle of a family of tycoons.” They ask: “What happens when inheritance becomes expectation, and legacies collide?”

They add that audiences will soon glimpse this world through Next on Netflix, with more details to be revealed ahead of release.

The cast includes Anil Kapoor, Vijay Varma, Akash Khurana, Rhea Chakraborty, Neha Dhupia, Anant Nag, Kanwaljit Singh, Dhruv Sehgal, Nandish Sandhu, Tina Desai, Rohan Mehra, Kamal Sadanah, Raima Sen, Inayat Sood, and Madhoo Shah.

Co‑created by Hansal Mehta and Niren Bhatt, ‘Family Business’ promises an intense blend of personal conflict and corporate intrigue, set against the backdrop of one of the most powerful business empires in India.
