Bradford Digital Radio set to apply for Small-Scale Digital Radio

Bradford Digital Media has announced its intention to apply for the upcoming Small-Scale Digital Radio (SSDAB) in Bradford.

The new SSDAB platform will reach some 335,000 adults in and around the city and the ambition is to provide an affordable long-term digital future for many existing broadcasters (community and commercial), as well as new entrants.

Bradford Digital Media Limited brings together a range of specialist skills, local knowledge and combined radio experience of more than 70 years from key members.

Raj Parmar, director of Bradford Digital Media and local radio station, Sunrise Radio explains, “Bradford will become one of the first local areas in the UK to be licensed to broadcast for SSDAB. With this platform we will see some amazing opportunities for truly hyper local community and commercial stations. We plan to bring a variety of radio formats catering for a wide range of tastes, interests, communities and age groups.”

Incidentally, Sunrise Radio (Yorkshire) has also partnered up with Akash Radio to form Leeds Digital Media Limited.

The award will take place early 2021 with deadlines for the application on 23rd November 2020.
