Box Office: ‘Ujda Chaman’ release pre-poned

‘Ujda Chaman’ and Ayushmann Khurrana starrer ‘Bala’ are at legal loggerheads over copyright violation.

The producers of ‘Ujda Chaman’ felt that ‘Bala’ resembled their film, an official remake of the Kannada comedy, ‘Ondu Motteya Kathe’ (2017). Debutant director of ‘Ujda Chaman’, Abhishek Pathak was reportedly further saddened when ‘Bala’ producer, Dinesh Vijan brought forward its release date to the 7th of November, a day before the release of ‘Ujda Chaman’.

Although the dispute is currently being dealt within the High Court, Mumbai Mirror reveals that ‘Ujda Chaman’ will release on the 1st of November, six days prior to ‘Bala’. “Since I had announce my film first, it is better to release a week before them and enjoy a solo release”, said Pathak.

When asked about taking on Sajid Nadiadwala’s multi-starrer ‘Housefull 4’ which releases only a short time prior, Pathak added, “Both films appeal to different audiences and by then many would have seen ‘Housefull’. There is demand for our subject and November 1st is a good date.”
