Box Office: Dull start for ‘Gulaab Gang’, ‘Total Siyapaa’ & ‘Queen’

When films clash at the box office, one is always more triumphant. However, today has seen an interesting change as all three release ��� ��Gulaab Gang, ��Total Siyapaa�۪ and ��Queen�۪ ��� have had a dismal start. It was expected initially that ��Gulaab Gang�۪ would rule, after all it bring together two female stalwarts in Madhuri Dixit-Nene and Juhi Chawla but disappointingly, this has not been the case.

Due to the well-reported court battle, ��Gulaab Gang�۪ has suffered a setback in the fact that show times at cinemas were not able to be determined in advance but it has opened to 1600 screens nationwide. Nevertheless, the film is doing not so well in multiplexes but has proved popular in the mass parts of India. On the other hand, ��Total Siyapaa�۪ and ��Queen�۪ have both opened pretty similarly. Their business on the weekend and beyond will depend on word of mouth.

Trade expert Komal Nahta tweeted the disappointing box office fates of the opening of all three films. He said, ���One of the worst Fridays of the year so far. All three films open to dull houses. Difficult to say which is worse than which film�۝.

Last week�۪s release ��Shaadi Ke Side Effects�۪ struggled through to get 30 crores net in its first week. ��Highway�۪ which released on 21st February has crossed 26 crores net in two weeks.
