This weekend’s huge releases ‘Dedh Ishqiya’ and ‘Yaariyan’ have opened to dismal response at the box office in India.
The much publicised movie ‘Dedh Ishqiya’, which stars Madhuri Dixit, was expected to open to bigger numbers after the success of ‘Ishqiya’ in 2010. However, the film opened up to just 20% collections and is now dependent on word of mouth. Reviews from critics have ben mixed. The main downfall for the film could be its language as the Urdu spoken in the film may not be understood by the masses.
‘Yaariyan’, which stars newcomers also has opened up to similar numbers. It is expected to grow further over the weekend due to the hit music score.
Both films require a big push by word of mouth to sustain at the box office.
