Boney Kapoor gives green light to ‘Mr India 2’ despite Sridevi’s opposition?

News about the sequel of ‘Mr India’ has been doing the rounds for a number of days after it was officially announced by ZEE Studios and Ali Abbas Zafar.

Surprisingly, the late Sridevi, who starred in the original was vehemently opposed to the sequel. In a previous interview cited in The Asian Age, Sridevi said, “I don’t think that Mr. India can be remade or turned into a sequel. Such a film just happens. When we were working on it, we never thought it would turn out to be such an influential film. Even today, people remember the film, Mogambo, and my character of the talkative journalist. Everything just came together. Such a happy situation is impossible to repeat.”

It is now reported that Sridevi’s husband, Boney Kapoor gave the film the go ahead despite the veteran actress’ opposition.
