Bollywood’s cohesion in assistance: Pledging support to fight coronavirus

Covid-19, an unprecedented scare that hit the world and shrouded it with terror and apprehension within no time. Before the universe could anticipate, it was fragmented into pieces as the intensity of the virus grew stronger, smashing the first and the second world countries while making a move towards the third world countries.

India. being one of the most densely populated countries. has been targeted to be susceptible to spread the pandemic like wildfire. To control the outspread, Modi Sarkar announced a 21 days lockdown that started from 24th March, calling off duty for all the sectors except the essential services in the country. With more than 1900 positive cases and 50 deaths, India is about to enter into an inevitable crisis. The time demands for unity and congruity to fight against the evil and bring in peace.

An appeal made by the Prime Minister to contribute in the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM- CARES) in order to brawl the catastrophe has aggravated various strata of people. Along with multiple industrialists, politicians, businessmen and common people donating or assisting for the cause, Bollywood has been one of the most noteworthy donors in the moment of need.

Rajiv Bhatia also known as Akshay Kumar, who is usually seen to have spread social awareness through his films and several campaigns has made a generous contribution of 25 crore to the PM-CARES Fund and had taken to social media in a strict outburst to warn people about the implications of Corona virus.

Varun Dhawan was seen to be equally engrossed in the efforts done to elevate the situation. Dhawan revealed his munificent contribution of 30 lakh to the PM-CARES Fund and 25 lakh to Maharashtra CM relief fund. Taking to tweeter Shilpa Shetty Kundra and husband Raj Kundra has inspired citizens to donate and also proclaimed their contribution of 21 lakhs to the fund.

Bestowing an unrevealed yet heartfelt benefaction in PM-CARES and many other charitable funds, Priyanka Chopra Jonas along with husband Nick Jonas shared the names of the organizations involved in conducting such activities and appreciated their endeavors in social media.

‘Love Aaj Kal 2’ (2020) duo left no stones unturned to do their bit for the country. The youngest Bollywood personality to show her solidatory against the pandemic, Sara Ali Khan donated a hidden amount and took to Instagram to inspire others to do the same. While youth heartthrob Kartik Aryan pledged to hand out one crore to the PM-CARES fund.

The owner of T-Series, Bhushan Kumar promised to offer 11 crore following the Prime Minister’s appeal. TV host and ‘Mickey Virus’ (2013) fame Manish Paul stated that he will donate 20 lakhs. Also, Murad Khetani, the producer of smash hit ‘Kabir Singh’ assured an openhanded contribution of 25 lakhs to the PM Fund and 25 lakhs to the Maharashtra relief fund.

The Khans also showed unanimity in extending their hand of help. Actor and founder of ‘Being Human’, Salman Khan not only contributed benignantly in the PM-CARES Fund but also provided financial aid to 25000 daily wage workers.

The Badshah of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan has revealed his initiative to support the centre and the state governments. Khan along with wife Gauri Khan and business partners Juhi Chawla and Jay Mehta have contributed in the PM-CARES Fund. The Red Chillies Entertainment led by Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan extended their help to the Maharashtra CM relief fund. The veteran actor through the KKR franchise and his NGO Meer Foundation tied up to assist the Maharashtra and West Bengal governments in providing 50,000 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the medical professionals and cater food essentials to 5500 families in Mumbai. He also announced to commence a kitchen that would supply 2000 meals to households and hospitals on a daily basis.

The film fraternity has been overtly compassionate and is doing everything possible, not just to be under the limelight of the fellow netizens but to essentially aid the country’s war against Covid-19.
