The BBC’s Adil Ray has angered a boss of a Birmingham balti restaurant which hosted the Prime Minister’s birthday party after he slated his business as “just for whites”.
After the PM visited the resturant, Ray tweeted: “David Cameron went to Diwan restaurant in Birmingham. One of those places for just white folk. Not authentic at all. He needs Asian friends.”
The tweet angered Diwan’s owner Bosir Miah, who was given only 15 minutes’ notice of the VIP visit.
Speaking to the Birmingham Mail, “What does Adil Ray know about curry? Can he cook curry? What does he know about traditional?
“What he said is completely wrong. Just because white people come in, doesn۪t mean it۪s not a traditional balti.”
A spokesman for the 38-year-old star, who was raised in Birmingham, said Adil did not want to comment.
