BBC Trust launches Asian Network consultation

With the BBC Asian Network’s future safe, the BBC Trust has today begun its review of the once-troubled station.

To ensure licence fee payers are getting the best out of the BBC, the Trust carries out a rolling programme of reviews which covers each BBC service at least once every five years.

The review will look at the current performance of BBC Asian Network ��� including the station’s quality, distinctiveness and value for money ��� and the BBC’s future plans for the service. There will be a period of consultation, beginning today, when the public will be able to give their opinions on the service. Industry stakeholders will also be invited to contribute their views.

A final report setting out the conclusions will be published on the Trust’s website in spring 2012.

While some of the areas covered in the Asian Network service review and the Delivering Quality First (DQF) consultation also launched today are the same, the service review will look at the retrospective performance of the service and the DQF proposals will look at the future direction.

The consultation period ends on Wednesday 21st December.
