BBC scouting for new Head of Station for Asian Network

Lorna Clarke, the BBC Controller of Pop, has announced plans to hire Head of Station positions for its various radio brands including the BBC Asian Network, Radio 1, Radio 2, 1Xtra and 6 Music.

It has been reported by RadioToday that the new positions have been circulated internally to staff, following the exits of BBC Radio 1 and Asian Network Controller, Ben Cooper and BBC Radio 2 Head, Lewis Carnie.

The report adds that the responsibility of the new heads will be to overlook the brand, budget and culture of each station.

Clarke was cited in the publication saying, “I’m looking for leaders who can deliver a compelling vision for the individual networks in the 21st century competitive landscape, with advanced digital skills and experience, and a genuine passion for music and radio.”
