BBC A Network presenter found to tweet homophobic & sexist messages

BBC Asian Network presenter DJ Limelight has allegedly been found to have posted offensive tweets, deemed homophobic and sexist.

The presenter, whose real name is Sandeep Sharma from Ilford, deleted the tweets ranging back to 2010, after the Daily Mail approached him for comments.

One tweet published on 18th June 18, 2010 reads: “I’ve only just realised I’m watching this place in some funny bar, everyone in here look gay, bisexual or even tranny-fied.”

Two other tweets, published in September 2010, read: “I’m in tears, my boy Pana is getting a haircut and this THING cutting his hair is the biggest batty boy I’ve ever seen! Hahaha” and “I can’t breathe, batty boy is fully singing to Pana whilst cutting his hair ahaahahaahaha.”

As well as fronting the Saturday night show on BBC Asian Network, he also is heard on BBC Radio One on Saturday nights between 01:00 – 04:00.

A statement from the BBC Asian Network told the publication, “Any allegations of inappropriate behaviour would always be taken extremely seriously, investigated and dealt with appropriately.”

Recently, Tommy Sandhu was sacked by the BBC Asian Network after he was found to be in a Whatsapp group, in which other members made offensive comments towards other staff members. Sandhu himself did not say anything inappropriate.
