‘Bajirao Mastani’ cleared for release in Pakistan

After days of mulling over the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s epic ‘Bajirao Mastani’, the film has been cleared for release in Pakistan.

Earlier reports said that the Pakistan Film Censor Board had objected to the release. In a statement cited in The Express Tribune, the censor board said, “Firstly, the film is in Hindi and our ordinance does not allow Hindi films to be screened. Secondly, it is a historical drama that is indirectly against Islam and Muslims.”

However, trade analyst, Komal Nahta today tweeted saying the film will release in Pakistan along with India on 18th December. He said, “#BajiraoMastani cleared for universal exhibition in Pakistan.”
