Arnab Goswami’s Republic TV goes live with expose

In typical Arnab Goswami style, the popular news broadcaster returned to Indian screens with an exclusive expose of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav having a conversation with jailed criminal, Mohammad Shahbuddin.

The clips of the tape were played on Goswami’s new channel, Republic TV. The story’s #LaluTapeExposed hashtag has been trending on Twitter, giving Goswami a head start over its rivals.

Republic TV launched on various digital TV platforms at 10:00. It also became the first news channel to be broadcast on Star TV’s Hotstar.

What remains to be seen is how much of an impact Republic TV will have on its English news rivals, including Times Now, where Goswami worked until November last year.
