Why is Arjun Rampal afraid he’ll end up in jail?

Arjun Rampal believes if he speaks too much about the research done for his portrayal of the gangster Arun Gawli for his next film ‘Daddy’ he may end up in jail.  The National Award winning actor gave more insight into the film and the role at a recent event.

Speaking alongside the director of the film, Ashim Ahluwalia, Rampal, who has also co-written the film, said, according to Deccan Chronicle, “To make this kind of a movie, you have to go to people of this world, talk to them and that’s what we did. We also had to get the rights and permission from the family; making it clear to them that this is not something which is just going to be a propaganda around the character. It took a lot of time to convince the family.”

Rampal met the imprisoned gangster whilst he was out on parole and said Gawli didn’t want the film to showcase him as some type of hero but to relay his story as it happened. “Gawli said that this is the story of most of the people of our country, who could go on various levels just to survive. Does the system really allow you to bring about a change, if you want to? And that’s exactly what we wanted to capture in the film”, he added.

The film apparently also stars Farhan Akhtar and is tentatively scheduled to be released in July.
