It is a tough time for Bollywood as the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena political party is refusing to allow films starring Pakistani actors to release. Following terrorist attacks which led to the death of many Indian soldiers, Anupam Kher believes that Pakistani actors should at least condemn the attacks if they wish to remain a part of Bollywood and work in India.

Absolute India quote Kher as having said at a recent event, “It is really important to say ‘I condemn the unfortunate massacre of Indian soldiers’. They (Pakistani actors) need to do that. We have always shown our goodness and friendship… There are some people from Pakistan who are wonderful and great hosts. But when it comes to my country and myjawaans (soldiers), I cannot be diplomatic. I’m biased towards my country.”

Kher added that when, in 2014, a terrorist attack had taken the lives of children in Pakistan, he had openly condemned the actor, and therefore he believes Pakistani actors should be doing the same right now.

Actors such as Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan have apparently returned to Pakistan following the controversy.
