Amitabh Bachchan to host show for ZEE?

According to an online report, ZEE Network is in talks with Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan to host a gameshow for its soon to be launched channel.

MeriNews is reporting that Amitabh could be seen on ZEE Network’s new channel – ‘ZEE Next’, when it launches later in the year.

The broadcaster is pulling out all the stops to upstage rival STAR Plus’ ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’, which was previously hosted by Bachchan and was taken over by Shah Rukh Khan last month.

Though ZEE is closely guarding its deal with Bachchan, sources said the TV network has got not one but three proposals from the superstar۪s AB Corps, the new avatar of ABCL. He was bound by STAR TV with a contract not to be part of any game show similar to ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ for any other network but the time period of the contract is over and Bachchan is now free to undertake new assignments.

In an interview, Bachchan, for the first time, acknowledged rivalry between him and Bollywood current heartthrob Shah Rukh Khan. “Yes, there is competition between the two of us….it is healthy to have competition,” he said.

It may be recalled that no official reason was given as to why Bachchan quit the popular gameshow. There were rumours of Bachchan having a disagreement with producers of the show but his health was also another reason why he was forced to give up the show. Whatever the reason, it seems like Bachchan is looking at returning to TV…on a rival channel, which gave him his first television break.
