Amitabh Bachchan selected for Dadasaheb Phalke Award

Veteran actor, Amitabh Bachchan has been awarded India’s highest film honour, the Dadasaheb Phalke award.

The news was announced earlier by India’s Information and Broadcasting Minister, Prakash Javadekar, who said, “The legend Amitabh Bachchan who entertained and inspired for two generations has been selected unanimously for #DadaSahabPhalke award. The entire country and international community is happy. My heartiest congratulations to him. @narendramodi @SrBachchan”.

Bachchan, who debuted in Bollywood in 1969 with Khwaja Ahmad Abbas’ ‘Saat Hindustani’, has been conferred for “outstanding contribution for the growth and development of Indian cinema.”
