Amit Bhatia leads consortium in bid for Liverpool FC minority stake

Amit Bhatia has emerged as the lead figure behind a consortium seeking to acquire a minority stake in Liverpool FC, with Fenway Sports Group confirming that discussions are under way. The group, represented and managed by Bhatia, is exploring a strategic investment that would sit alongside FSG’s existing shareholder structure.

The move follows Bhatia’s departure from Queens Park Rangers, ending an 18‑year association with the club. His exit cleared the way for formal engagement with Liverpool’s owners, who have acknowledged the consortium’s interest and confirmed that advisers have been appointed to assess the proposal. The bid is backed by the Mittal family, with additional high‑net‑worth participants understood to have been approached.

Industry sources suggest the investment could value Liverpool at well over £4bn, reflecting the club’s commercial strength and long‑term revenue outlook. FSG has previously welcomed minority investment to support infrastructure and squad development, and the current talks are positioned as part of that ongoing strategy.

The consortium’s discussions remain at an early stage, with no timeline set for completion. Further clarity is expected once due diligence progresses and FSG determines whether the offer aligns with its long‑term financial model.
