Alia Bhatt found ‘Badrinath…’ character challenging

Alia Bhatt is known for pushing the boundaries and can be called an actress who is always breaking boundaries. However, she’s recently admitted that she finds playing a breezy, romantic character like she plays in ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ more challenging to essay on screen over a dramatic role like ‘Udta Punjab’ (2016).

“Playing Vaidehi was not as difficult as my role in Udta Punjab [about the insurgence of substance abuse among the youth in Punjab], but each film comes with its own set of challenges. My biggest challenge is to convince my audience that I’m in love with Badrinath, if I fail to do so, the whole film falls,” said Bhatt to The National.

On shooting at different locations, Bhatt commented, “We went into the heartland of the country to places such as Kota, Jhansi and Jaipur to shoot the film.”

“Going around these smaller cities and towns and eating at local stalls made me realise the forward-thinking approach of the people living in these places,” she concludes.

‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ also stars Varun Dhawan and is a Shashank Khaitan directorial. It’s slated for release on 10th March.
