While it may have looked like Priyanka Chopra’s exit and Katrina Kaif’s entry in the forthcoming ‘Bharat’ happened quickly, it appears something has been brewing for some time.

Director Ali Abbas Zafar explained his decision to bring in Kaif, according to Hindustan Times, “We’re thankful that we had some time in hand. I think Katrina is our best choice, and I’m thankful that she could accommodate [this film] in the middle of whatever she was doing”.

He also went on to reveal that although Kaif has a great equation with male lead Salman Khan, it was him who made the final call, “The way Salman sir’s and my vision is, we talk about everything. “But he leaves the decision to me. Katrina was solely my decision, only for the reason that I’ve worked with her in two films, and her work was very nice”.

On whether Chopra made her decision at the right time and whether he was relieved, Zafar added, “That would’ve never happened, because that wasn’t Priyanka’s intention. It all happened the right way”.

Kaif is expected to start shooting for the film in August.
