Akshay Kumar applies for Indian passport

Akshay Kumar surprised a section of his fans today when he revealed that he has applied for an Indian passport.

The actor, who will next be seen in ‘Good Newwz’, spoke at length about his current Canadian citizenship. Talking at the HT Leadership Summit 2019, Kumar said that there was a point in his life where he had 14 back-to-back flops in Bollywood and had given up on his career in the film industry. He added that at that time, a friend from Canada asked him to work with him there, where he applied for his Canadian citizenship.

He was cited in the publication saying, “I have now applied for the passport. I don’t want to give anyone the chance to question me on it. I am an Indian and it hurts me that I am asked to prove that every time. My wife, my children are Indian. I pay my taxes here and my life is here. I started the process to get a Canadian passport because I felt my career was finished and I won’t get more work here. But my 15th film worked and I never looked back. I never thought of changing my passport.”
