Ajay Devgn’s ‘Shivaay’ similar to Hollywood’s ‘Taken’?

Ajay Devgn’s upcoming ‘Shivaay’ has everyone waiting in excitement. Having received rave reviews from just the trailer, there seems to be some similarities between this film’s plot and that of the Hollywood Liam Neeson starrer ‘Taken’ (2008). It seems ‘Shivaay’ has been inspired by the film.

‘Taken’ tells the story of Neeson’s character in search for his daughter who has been kidnapped and fighting off those who become a threat to his search. DNA reported a source speaking about the storyline of ‘Shivaay’, “Ajay�۪s character is shown as the modern-day Shiva, the destroyer. What AJ deliberately did in the first trailer was to keep the story under wraps. Ajay plays a father to Abigail Eames, who gets abducted. How Ajay destroys everyone who tries to stop him and how he rescues his daughter is what forms the core idea of the film.”

However, Devgn expressed how the film is in fact inspired by real events, rather than the Hollywood film. “‘Shivaay’ is an emotional drama. The idea came from an article on a real-life story, we read. We were moved by the article. This picture is from that thought process. We did not follow it, rather that was our inspiration,” he was reported explaining.
