Abhishek Bachchan: “Dhoom can be made without my character”

Abhishek Bachchan was applauded for his role as ACP Jai Dixit in the ‘Dhoom’ franchise, but Bachchan feels that franchise is now strong enough to continue without his character.

Indian Express reports Bachchan saying, “I will never outgrow that role. The role is too close to my heart. It was my first ever success. Based on that alone I will do it exterenally if they (YRF) ask me. It’s more of an emotion for me than anything else. Dhoom can be made without my character. Couple of years ago I wouldn’t have agreed. However, the franchise now has established itself. It’s name itself is enough. You can always change the characters and get someone else to make the film. Dhoom is established enough now. It can do without Jai Dixit and Ali (Uday Chopra).”

There were reports of Salman Khan being approached for the next ‘Dhoom’ film, but there hasn’t been any confirmation on the same from the production house, Yash Raj Films.
