Aamir Khan’s production house a part of sexual harassment committee

The Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Maneka Gandhi last year set out to contact Bollywood production houses to form panels to tackle sexual harassment in the workplace and has received a positive response.

Reported by Bollywood Life, so far Gandhi has got the support of seven production houses who are willing to comply with the Sexual Harassment Act 2013, however Gandhi is still waiting to hear back from another 17. Feeling hopeful Gandhi says, “I expect the other producers to ensure similar compliance at the earliest.” Further adding,  “As responsible employers, all are obliged to follow the law of the land. I urge the Bollywood production houses to do so and submit a report on the internal complaints committee set up by them. Together, we need to ensure a safe workplace for our women.”

According to some reports the seven who have set up a committee include, Yash Raj Films, Aamir Khan Production, Mukta Arts, Excel Entertainment, Phantom Films, T-Series and Drishyam Films.

Shahrukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment and Karan Johar’s Dharma Production have also been sent a request.

The ministry has clearly outlined that all Bollywood filmmakers with 10 or more employees are to have a complaints committee, as they have an ethical and legal obligation to ensure the safety of their employees, which includes outsourced staff too.
