Ishaan Khattar’s father opens up about nepotism row

Karan Johar is no stranger to nepotism allegations having faced some high-profile rows. Following the announcement of his new production which stars Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khattar, it seems Johar has once again been targeted for casting star kids in his films, but has gained support from Khattar’s father.

The recent revealing of ‘Dhadak’ garnered a lot of attention, some which resulted in Johar being trolled online for casting Sridevi’s daughter and Shahid Kapoor’s half-brother. However, Khattar’s father has spoken in favour of Johar criticising online trolls for their behaviour. “It’s not as if Karan was compelled to take Ishaan! He is going by the subject and what he wants to project. The story is about youngsters in the 18-21-year-old age bracket and he wanted actors with no image, which is why he chose them”, said Rajesh Khattar, as reported by DNA India.

He went on to add that being a child of an established star doesn’t result in a successful career but that each newcomer has their own destinies, citing Rajkummar Rao and Vicky Kaushal as good examples of this. Khattar’s father also added that if nepotism truly existed then all star children would be superstars. “We know that’s not the case. So, for all those who are crying hoarse, getting a break is only the first step. It’s the public who gives the final verdict,” he finished.
