‘Padmavati’ returned to makers by CBFC due to technical issues

News about ‘Padmavati’ possibly being delayed not only because of the unhappiness in Rajput communities about it but also because of a delay with submitting the prints to the CBFC have been ongoing for some time. In a new development, it appears that the film was submitted but has since been returned as there were some technical issues.

The CBFC have said that the film was “incomplete”. Talking to PTI, a source at the CBFC said, “The film was submitted for certification last week. We examined the documents, as we normally do. It was conveyed to the makers that their application was incomplete. They had to rectify and send it back, we will view it when it comes back to us”.

“When they (makers) rectify the deficiency we will again scrutinise it once more and when the turn comes we will examine it (film for certification),” added the source.

When asked whether the film may be fast-tracked when re-submitted in light of the pending release, the source went on to say, “When it comes back to us we will put it in queue and see when the turn comes, there will be no exception (in case of ‘Padmavati’)”.

The Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial stars Shahid Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh. It’s slated for release on 1st December.
