Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Indu Sarkar’ cleared by Supreme Court

If news is to be believed, filmmaker  Madhur Bhandarkar can rest a little easier now as the Supreme Court cleared his forthcoming film ‘Indu Sarkar’ in time for its release on Friday.

According to DNA, the film based on the 1975- 1977 Emergency when Indira Gandhi was Prime Minister, was claimed to be derogatory by the late PM’s granddaughter Priya Singh Paul. However after making 12 major changes and cuts to the film, the court have decided to place the verdict in Bhandarkar’s favour.

Paul had also claimed that the portrayal of her grandmother and father Sanjay Gandhi had been fabricated, and had also had a negative effect on many from the political Congress Party.

Releasing on Friday 28th July, ‘Indu Sarkar’ stars Kirti Kilhari, Supriya Vinod, Neil Nitin Mikesh and Anupam Kher.
