Zoya Akhtar on ‘Gully Boy’: “Audience’s taste is changing”

Zoya Akhtar’s next ‘Gully Boy’ starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt is expected to go on the floors later this year, with the filmmaker talking about the change in direction for new concepts.

At an event, Akhtar was cited in The Indian Express saying, “Audience’s taste is changing. It means we have a wider scope to make films on different stories and themes. Plus new actors also get an opportunity to work in those films. I feel there is no harm in it.”

Asked if this new phenomenon would impact the kind of stars that work in films, she added, “No. I don’t think that way. The audience still comes to watch movies when you have a big actor. It still happens. I feel it will never go away. An increase in the number of screens and awareness among the audience has led to all kinds of films being made today and it’s a welcome change.”

Akhtar also opened up about Singh’s look in the film, “I always say Ranveer looks good. No matter which movie or which look.”
