Zoya Akhtar confirms next based on street rapper

As��previously reported by BizAsia, much has been speculated about Zoya Akhtar’s next film being based on the concept of someone rising from the Mumbai slums and becoming a rapper. Akhtar has now confirmed the project.

Speaking to Mumbai Mirror, Akhtar said, “We are in the process of locking the script but no one has been signed yet. Divine and Naezy are consulting on the script but it isn’t inspired by anyone in particular. We should be rolling by next year and will make an announcement on the casting soon.”

Ranveer Singh will allegedly star in the upcoming film. He has previously worked with Akhtar in ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ (2015).
