Zoheb Hassan returns with new album

After the release of their first album, ‘Disco Deewane’, Nazia and Zoheb became the South-Asian sub-continent’s first pop icons. Several successful albums established the duo’s status as pioneers of pop music in the region. They sold over 85 million records worldwide and topped the charts in several countries, including South Africa, Guatemala, Columbia, Venezuela, etc.

Zoheb is a singer, songwriter and producer. His ballad “Chehra” is considered a core romantic anthem to this day. He has received 12 gold, 4 platinum and 2 double platinum discs in his music career. He is also the recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award from the United Nations Association of Pakistan and an award from Oxford University for Achievements in the field of South Asian Music. He took some time off from music after Nazia’s demise to concentrate on his family business in Pakistan and the UK.

Zoheb’s new exciting album ‘Signature’ is finally here. The album is a collection of some of his best work to date. His scintillating voice is backed by a slick production of renown UK based music director, DJ Swami who has produced leading international artists such as Shania Twain, Apache Indian, Stereo Nation, etc. In addition to this Immu of Pak Rock band, Fuzon has specially composed three super tracks for Zoheb.

The album is being released worldwide by EMI Pakistan who have spared no expense in making this a success. “We at EMI are super excited that Zoheb finally agreed to do this album and we are committed to take this to a new level in terms to marketing.”. The title track “Silsalay” was filmed in Turkey and looks more like a feature film than a music video in terms of quality. The album superbly demonstrates Zoheb’s range and artistic ability as a singing icon he is. From classic ballads like “Silsalay” to modern dance track like “Kabhi Kabhi” Zoheb’s versatility is unmatched.

“One of the most exciting tracks on the album is “Nazia-Zoheb Dance Mix” compilation” Zoheb added. “It contains the last track that Nazia Hassan re-sung before her sad demise . Unfortunately she fell ill and plans for an album were put on hold.” He also revealed that Nazia had sung alternate versions of “Koi Nahi”, “Disco Deewane” and “Boom Boom” – all three of which have been put into one song in Signature.

“The album revolves around my experiences and all that I and my family have experienced over the last 10 years or so,” he added. Besides music videos the the album is also backed by a special documentary shot in the recording studio showing Zoheb and his Producer at work. Some of the tracks from this album are also featured in the upcoming feature film on Nazia and Zoheb’s life which is presently under production.

Whether or not “Signature” becomes the hit it is set to become is not important. What is exciting is that our icon Zoheb Hassan is back with another music gem which will be treasured by all his millions of fans for all times to come.
