Zing to bring back weekday Bhangra music slot

After years of exclusively promoting Bollywood music, Zing is relaunching a 60-minute Bhangra/Brit Asian music slot called ‘Brit Beats’ in February.

The channel, which has been on a high for the past months, will be introducing some major tweaks in its schedule from Sunday 1st February. As part of the changes, Zing will launch an hour’s worth of Brit Asian and Punjabi/Bhangra music in a weekday slot at 16:00.

The sudden shift of Punjabi music in Bollywood films and the rising popularity of Brit Asian music in the UK, could be a reason for the new show. Recently, rival channel, Brit Asia TV joined official measuring body, BARB, which has witnessed success with its playlisted Bhangra music slots.
