Zing ditches ‘Page 3’ film last-minute for awards

ZEE Network’s lifestyle and entertainment channel, Zing UK has made a last-minute schedule change this evening by scrapping movie ‘Page 3’ for the Times Of India Film Awards 2016 (TOIFA).

Usually, TV broadcasters schedule shows weeks in advance and it is rare for them to change programmes unless there is a technical fault or a live event. However, this time, the move seems more strategic, most likely down to rival channel Sony SAB TV broadcasting the Filmfare Awards free-to-air tonight. Furthermore, Colors is premiering ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ on its HD service. So it seems, Zing was keen on grabbing on to a larger chunk of the audience with TOIFA 2016 than what it would have with the repeat telecast of ‘Page 3’.

It now remains to be seen if the move was a right one to garner the channel a big enough audience with TOIFA 2016.
