ZEE UK & US tie-up with Sony Music for K.A.N.K

ZEE Network UK and US have tied up with Sony Music for this summer’s mammoth release ‘Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna’ (K.A.N.K).

The deal means the channel will air exclusive music clippings of the huge movie, which releases on Friday 11th August.

Sony Music hold the music rights for the film, with Yashraj Films holding the distribution rights worldwide for the film.

The developments today will no doubt be welcomed with open arms by ZEE officials who opted not to air clippings of Yashraj Film’s last movie Fanaa due to a financial disagreement between the two parties.

Biz Asia would like to stress the ‘K.A.N.K’ arrangement is for music only and its yet to be seen who will be awarded the pre-release promotional rights. It is already known Sony Entertainment Television Asia has bagged the telecast rights of the film.

The director of the movie Karan Johar and leading actor Shah Rukh Khan will be in London on Monday 12th June to launch the music of ‘K.A.N.K’. The soundtrack features a total 7 tracks and an audio visual trailer of the film, with lyrics by the highly esteemed poet Javed Akhtar along with lilting melodies from Shankar Eshaan Loy, the team that created the hugely successful soundtrack to Karan Johar۪s Box Office smash ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’.

The ZEE – Sony Music tie-up will also see the ZEE Network logo be printed on CDs and cassettes of the film’s music.
