ZEE UK cricket highlights hit by “technical glitch”

ZEE Network UK’s Cricket World Cup highlight plans have suffered a major setback.
On Sunday evening, the scheduled Hindi highlights on ZEE Cinema between Zimbabwe and South Africa at 20:00 and India versus Pakistan at 21:00 were scrapped and replaced with the movie ‘Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana’. The channel has been scrolling a message blaming a “technical glitch” for the last minute schedule change.
No doubt this will be seen as a major knock back, which holds the Hindi highlights rights for UK territory. The first day highlights were shown as planned yesterday evening. However, the match between India and Pakistan is branded one of the biggest of cricket and surely ZEE Network must have cashed in on sponsors for the highlights telecast. It remains to be seen if the “missed” highlights will be telecast at another time. ITV, which holds the English commentary highlight rights, will broadcast as scheduled at 22:00 tonight.
At the time of filing this article, BizAsia was awaiting a response from ZEE Network UK.
