ZEE Network has issued an official release celebrating the success of its new channel, &TV in the UK.

The broadcaster claims to have taken the third position amongst General Entertainment Channels with its weekly reach touching almost half a million within the first week of its launch.

Shah Rukh Khan۪s magnetic charm has been a huge draw to the channel with his weekday game show at 21:00, ‘India Poochega Sabse Shanaa Kaun’ gaining a consistent audience. The channels۪ weekend shows ‘Killer Karaoke – Atka Toh Latkah’, a singing show with a twist and ‘Tujhse Naaraz Nahi Zindagi’ are also set to grab the nation۪s interest.

The first week had a full range of the channel۪s shows getting sampled from the fiery action of ‘Razia Sultan’ – the story of the first woman emperor of the Delhi Sultanate to ‘Bhaghyalakshmi’ – a simple story of an ambitious young girl who aspires to chase her dreams and the comedy of ‘Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain’. Most triumphant in the first week has been the show which has had heads turning and people talking ‘Gangaa’ where a feisty little girl has won hearts with her story of a young widower.

The content offering of &TV is contemporary and contextual, depicting the progressiveness in the mind-set of the viewers. This has been reflected in the viewers tuning in, with 54% being 25-44 years old. The channel is also not leaving any stone unturned with its pledge to bring the most popular Bollywood blockbusters to TV with this Sunday seeing Shah Rukh Khan۪s ‘Chennai Express’ getting the channel۪s peak audience reach of 55,000. It will be airing the blockbuster ‘Main Tera Hero’ this weekend.

Parul Goel, ZEE Network Europe Deputy Head said, We were confident that the great quality content of &TV would be a hit with the viewers and we are absolutely thrilled to gain a successful opening for the channel. It is difficult to miss a poster or the sound of the channel out and about all over the UK and the shows are attracting the attention of the audience. We are looking forward to seeing the audience rise in the coming weeks.۝
