The lead protagonist of ZEE TV’s popular show ‘Sinndoor Tere Naam Ka’ is leaving to make way for a new character, from next month.

Gurdip Kohli will be exiting from the daily show. She will be replaced with Aashka Goradia, who will be seen playing a pivotal part in the show along with Kirti Kelkar.

Kinnari Mehta, producer, Jai Mehta Productions, affirms, “Yes, Aashka has joined in. She plays Arpita, a character which is very close to Tabu’s role in ‘Viraasat’. Though we have never worked with her earlier, she was the one who suited this role the most.” On being asked about Gurdip’s exit she says, “Well, she will die a natural death but I am not saying that it’s her exit.”

Kinnari believes that the story had to move on as Gurdip had requested for a month long leave. “She is getting hitched this December, so for a month it would have been extremely difficult to adjust without her so we thought of changing the current track,” adds Kinnari.

Aashka will be seen tying knot to Dhruv played by Sachin Shroff. However she has no clue about the developments in her life otherwise. “Yes I will be doing ‘Sinndoor’. I am entering as a lead and will start shooting from next week. As far as ‘Akela’ and ‘Kahiin Toh Hoga’ are concerned I am not aware of what is happening with them.”

Gurdip Kohli rubbishes rumours of quitting the series and calls it a temporary exit. “It’s because of my marriage that I will have to take a leave and the show must go on. And that is the very reason of roping in another lead.”

Considering it a temporary exit from Gurdip’s side, Aashka can be termed as a permanent saviour, keeping ‘Kahiin Toh Hoga’ in mind!

ZEE TV UK regulated ‘Sinndoor’ from primetime to an early evening slot of 18:30. The change took place earlier this month.
