ZEE TV to show Afro Asian Cup this month

ZEE TV today announced the successful acquisition of the Afro Asian Cup broadcasting rights for the UK.

The inaugural Afro Asian Cup will have three ODI’s and will be played in South Africa. The International Cricket Council has officially recognised these matches. Top stars from the leading cricketing nations of Asia and Africa comprise the two teams, Asian XI and African XI.

The inaugural match will be held on 17th August at Supersport Park Centurion, Pretoria. The next two matches will be held in Sahara Stadium Kingsmead, Durban on 20th and 21st August.

The series will carry a total prize money of $100,000. Each victory will fetch the team $25,000, man-of-the-match $5,000 and man-of-the tournament $10,000.�� Clive Lloyd has been appointed the referee, and the umpires Steve Davis (Australia) and Billy Doctrove (West Indies) will officiate the three games. The revenue generated from these matches will be utilised for cricket developmental activities in Asia and Africa.

Commenting on the acquisition Mr. Gary Lovejoy Chief Operating Officer ZEE Sports India said,” We are delighted to acquire the broadcasting rights for the inaugural edition of the Afro Asian Cup.
The Afro Asian Cup telecast will include preview and review shows, special programming and advertising innovations, world class graphics, special interviews and match reports.”

Asian XI Squad comprise of:
Inzamam-ul-Haq, Rahul Dravid, Virender Sehwag, Kumar Sangakarra, Sanath Jayasuriya, Yousuf Youhana, Shahid Afridi, Abdul Razzaq, Muttiah Muralitharan, Chaminda Vaas, Naved-ul-Hasan, Irfan Pathan, Mohammad Ashraful, Anil Kumble, Shoaib Akhtar. Reserves Marvan Atapattu, Mashrafe bin Mortaza, Khaled Mashud.

Africa XI Squad comprise of:
Graeme Smith , Shaun Pollock, Boeta Dippenaar, AB de Villiers, Jacques Kallis, Ashwell Prince, Albie Marcel, Mark Boucher, Monde Zondeki, Jacques Rudolph, Nicky Boje, Justin Ontong, Steve Tikolo, Collins Obuya, Thomas Odoyo, Heath Streak, Tatenda Taibu, Andy Blignaut, Dale Steyn
