ZEE TV climbs back to number 2 with Colors

ZEE TV has recovered lost ground by reclaiming the number 2 position amongst the Hindi general entertainment channels in India.

According to TAM Media Research (C&S 4+) data published on TelevisionPoint for Week 51, ZEE TV has increased its viewing figures from 194 in Week 50 to 230 in Week 51. The channel also managed to increase its share to 20 per cent from 17 per cent last week.

Colors has managed to grab a 20 per cent share, 1 per cent less than in Week 50, the channel’s GRPs decreasing to 233 from 235 last week.

ZEE TV owes its recent viewership surge to the world TV premiere of movie ‘Tare Zameen Par’, which was aired on Sunday 14th December (UK telecast on Thursday 1st January) delivering a TVR of 5.25, and has occupied third spot in the list of Top 10 programmes for week 51.

STAR Plus continues to maintain its leadership status with a relative share of 25 per cent in week 51, and by registering a marginal increase of 1 per cent share over week 50. The channel saw its GRPs increasing from 272 in Week 50 to 292 in week 51.

The other channels on the list are Sony Entertainment Television Asia at number three with an 8 per cent relative share. STAR One at number four with a 7 per cent share, NDTV Imagine at number five with a 6 per cent share, and 9X, Sahara One and SAB TV at number six each with a 4 per cent share. DD 1 and STAR Utsav occupy the number seven position, both having a relative share of 2 per cent each.
