ZEE Trendz to close down in India

ZEE Network’s music and lifestyle channel, ZEE Trendz will be shutting shop next month.

ZEE Trendz launched back in May 2003 and will be closing down on 5th April 2014 due to a low performance.

ZEEL chief strategy officer Atul Das told TelevisionPost, ���We have taken a corporate decision to close the channel. I don�۪t want to get into the specifics of it but it is part of our rationalisation exercise. We thought we can�۪t take a long-term bet on the channel, which is why we have decided to shut it down.�۝

Das said no decision had been made on if the licence will be transferred to another new ZEE service. ZEE Trendz became the first Indian channel to go commercial-free. It was sold as an a la carte channel. The channel has found it difficult to sustain due to the competitive market and rival international fashion channel, FTV.
