ZEE to screen Garam Masala & Kyon Ki movies

ZEE Network has acquired the movie rights to this year’s two biggest Diwali releases-Garam Masala and Kyon Ki.

The two films directed by Priyadarshan of different genres (one romantic, the other a comedy) will be shown on the ZEE channels in India and the UK within the next four-eight months.

Both films formed this year’s Diwali releases at the box office, with Garam Masala emerging as the biggest grosser and Kyon Ki doing just average business. Now ZEE TV will be celebrating its own Diwali on-screen early next year. The third movie release at Diwali – Shaadi No.1 has still not be sold to any broadcaster, so remains to be seen if ZEE Network will grab all three of this year’s Diwali movie blockbusters.

According to industry estimates, ZEE has paid Rs 40 million each for the rights of the two movies.
