ZEE Radio Station Manager appointed

The hotly anticipated project ZEE Radio has announced it has appointed BizAsia.co.uk۪s Founder Raj Baddhan as its Station Manager.

Baddhan has held a similar position at the Midland۪s renowned Sabras Radio, where he has been for the past three years. During his tenure at Sabras, he was behind the weekday and weekend schedule changes, plus introducing new imaging for the station, which has been progressively evolving since last year. He also presented the flagship Drivetime show.

He also has bagged exclusive interviews with the likes of Amitabh Bachchan, Lata Mangeshkar and the first radio interview with Shilpa Shetty after she left the controversial ‘Big Brother’ house in 2006.

Besides Sabras Radio, Raj Baddhan has worked for ITN, editing its Bollywood film content, plus writing a regular column for the Eastern Media Group called ‘GLITZ’ for the past seven years. Prior to joining Sabras Radio, Baddhan worked at Radio XL in Birmingham.

Raj Baddhan said, “It has been whirlwind three years at Sabras and a platform where I have experienced so much. I am happy to leave the station on a high and join ZEE Radio as a new challenge to make it potentially the most listened to Asian radio station in London (and one day nationally). Together with my team and the avid ZEE followers, we can make ZEE Radio a success just like the other ZEE entities.”

ZEE Radio, which will be ZEE Network۪s first foray in the UK radio sector launches officially later this month on 558 AM, DAB digital radio and online.

Incidentally it was BizAsia.co.uk that broke the exclusive scoop on ZEE Radio last summer. BizAsia.co.uk remains the only website to break UK Asian media news website first.

Raj Baddhan leaves Sabras Radio at the end of this month to start at ZEE Radio on Monday 3rd March.

Sangraam Marathe who was previously controller of ZEE Music UK will also play pivotal role at ZEE Radio, along with Richa Vyas who has been roped in as Marketing Manager.
