ZEE Punjabi unleashes new look schedule

As revealed exclusively on BizAsia.co.uk last month, ZEE Punjabi will be donning a new look later this month.

With the new look will come a brand new schedule, a string of new shows and a new tagline ‘Apni Boli, Apna Maan’. The first batch of changes will come on Monday 16th August when the new packaging consisting of a new logo and new on-air graphics will be introduced.

With this, a daily new serial called ‘Sarhadein’ will debut and will air at 20:30 – Monday to Friday. Also a new travel show, ‘Sadde Pind Rab Vasda’.

From Monday 6th September, the channel will launch the following two new shows:

– Drama: Ankhion Door Tu Jaiyeen Na (daily at midnight)
– Discussion: En Onkar (daily at 08:30 & 15:00)

The channel is also planning to run a Gurdas Mann movie season, details of which are yet to be confirmed. However, some other blockbuster movies confirmed for the channel are:
‘Munde UK De’ starring Jimmy Shergill and Gurpreet Guggi
‘Jee Aaya Nu’ starring Harbhajan Mann
‘Nanak Dhukiya Sab Sansar’ starring Dara Singh and Balraj Sahni
‘Des Hoyaa Pardes’ starring Gurdas Mann and Juhi Chawla

ZEE Punjabi will also be free-to-air on Sky Digital to give new viewers a sample of the new look. The freeview will be available between Monday 16th August until Sunday 5th September.

“Since the launch of our Punjabi channel in 2002 we have always endeavoured to cater for the specific needs of the Punjabi community. Whilst Gurbani from the Golden Temple remains at the heart of the channel to ensure a religious connection, we wanted to build on this and offer even more programmes rich in Punjabi culture. We believe a channel rebrand should be more than just a new logo, it should offer viewers something new and different and ZEE Punjabi will deliver on all fronts,” said Govind Shahi, Head of Business, ZEE Network, Europe.
