ZEE Next revamps; ‘Jhoomein’ moves to ZEE TV

ZEE TV’s sibling ZEE Next is in revamp mode after a dismal performance in the all-competitive general Hindi entertainment market in India.

Three shows are facing the axe and another moving to the flagship channel ZEE TV. Firstly, the three on the way out are, ‘Simpley Sapney’, ‘Pyar Ishq Mohabbat’ and ‘Yahan Ke Hum Sikander’.

ZEE Next is shifting its fiction-based show ‘Jhoomein Jiya Re’ to ZEE TV. A similar move is also expected on ZEE TV UK as its primetime schedule seems to be choc-o-bloc.

ZEE TV programming head Ajay Bhalwankar told IndianTelevision, “We have planned to launch the show in the afternoon band with Rakhi and Saath Saath. Viewers who missed watching the show on ZEE Next, have a chance to catch the episodes from the start.”

In India, ZEE Next is yet to make a splash in the TV ratings chart. It has faced stiff competition from newbies such as Colors, NDTV Imagine and 9X. ZEE Next is set to launch in the UK later this year.
