ZEE Network’s new channel &TV details emerge

There have been talks aplenty about ZEE Network’s second entertainment channel, which will sit under the company’s “&” brand.

&TV is set for a launch in India in the current quarter to compete with a slew of other entertainment channels. Judging by reports, &TV will showcase a mixture of fiction and non-fiction shows, which will include Swastik Production’s ‘Razia Sultan’ – a show on the untold story of the first woman emperor of India. The channel will also introduce ‘Begusarai’, produced by Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Productions and Jaaswand Entertainment.

Exchange4Media reports that the channel is looking likely to acquire the Indian adaption rights of popular reality show ‘The Voice’. The American series has proved a huge success in the UK on BBC One.

Reports say that ZEE Network is expected to pump in up to 1,000 crore over the next 3-5 years to help the channel break even. In comparison, the network rumoured to have invested 100 crore on the launch of Zindagi last year.

&TV’s sister channel, &pictures has been running for over a year showcasing a mixture of Bollywood and regional language movies.
