ZEE Network shakes up sports business

ZEE Network India has decided to shake-up management at the top by roping in Atul Pande to head its sports business as chief executive officer.

Pande’s responsibilities will include overlooking ZEE Sports, Ten Sports, the troubled ICL (Indian Cricket League), Mumbai Football Club, All Sports Magazine and all new initiatives.

Pande will report to the Essel Group chairman Subhash Chandra for Essel sports business (ICL, Mumbai Football Club, All Sports Magazine) and to Zeel (ZEE Entertainment Enterprises Ltd) CEO Punit Goenka for the broadcasting business.

Peter Hutton will continue to be the COO of Ten Sports, a 50:50 joint venture between Taj Television and ZEE Network.

Pande moves in from Cholamandalam DBS Finance where he was the managing director.

Himanshu Mody, the former business head of ZEE Sports under whose tutelage the ICL was launched, will now move on to a new role as finance and strategy head for the Essel Group and be reporting to Chandra.
