ZEE Network acquires Karan Johar’s ‘Agneepath’

ZEE Network has acquired the rights of Karan Johar’s much talked about upcoming film ‘Agneepath’.

The film, which is due for release in January at cinemas, has been purchased by the broadcaster for an astronomical fee of Rs. 41 Crore, according to Times Of India.

“We have acquired the satellite rights of Agneepath but cannot disclose the terms of the deal,” Jayantilal Gada, CMD of Pen India, the agency that acquires satellite rights for ZEE Cinema, told Times Of India.

The trend of selling the satellite rights of a film much before release may not be new but the money involved in buying blockbuster titles has gone up by about 200 per cent, says independent distributor and trade analyst Suniel Wadhwa.

‘Agneepath’ stars Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra and Mithun Chakraborty. It۪s a remake of the Bollywood hit of the same name, which was originally released in 1990.
