ZEE London Mela, the capital’s top cultural event celebrating the best of South Asian culture and creativity across the Capital, announces their 2017 programme – with free events planned for Gunnersbury Park, Croydon and Wembley Park this autumn.

Announcing the programme at the ZEE London Mela and London Mela presents 2017 Programme Launch at City Hall, Remarkable Productions, the production company behind the event, alongside Joanne McCartney, Deputy Mayor of London, London Mela, an artistically led celebration of South Asian culture and creativity, inspired by Asia, announced its return to Gunnersbury Park and Wembley Park, as well as an brand new event taking place in Croydon.

Celebrating its 15th anniversary, the event, which has become an established highlight in the Capital’s cultural calendar, is one of the only Mela’s in the country to champion new work – providing a platform for emerging British Asian artists as well as bringing traditional and classical art forms to a wider audience.

Much loved and critically acclaimed, the ZEE London Mela introduces the best in Bollywood, classical music, British Asian urban artists, dance, comedy and cabaret, South Asian-influenced street theatre and circus, as well as a range of exhibitions.

This year’s programme will take place across three locations, starting on 3rd September in Gunnersbury Park, home to London Mela since 2003. It kicks off at 13:-0 until 21:30. Free admission. The event will then be taken on a mini roadshow, visiting iconic locations including Wandle Park in Croydon (30th September 2017) and Wembley Park (28th October 2017).

Each event will feature British Asian and international artists across three major stages, complemented by the mouth-watering Tastes of Asia Food Market and bursting with heaps of exciting and colourful entertainment for the whole family.

Over the last 15 years, the Mela has gone from strength to strength, with street theatre, dancing and delicious Asian cuisine. I’m proud that we’ve helped to make ZEE London Mela even bigger and better this year – it’s events like this, taking place in all corners of the city, that showcase London at its diverse, lively and open best.”
