Zayn Malik’s One Direction makes US chart history

British boyband, One Direction have made history in the US music charts by becoming the first UK group to get a number one debut album.

One Direction compromises of Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson, whose album ‘Up All Night’ sold over 176,00 copies in its first week of release.

Previously the Spice Girls debuted at number 6 in the US charts with ‘Spice’, it then slowly creeped to the top spot after 14 weeks of release.

Zayn Malik becomes the biggest UK Asian artist in America with such a huge achievement. Jay Sean scored a US number single with ‘Down’ in 2009, a collaboration with rapper Lil Wayne.
