YouTube has confirmed plans to introduce original programming for international markets including India, Mexico, Germany, Japan and France.

The new initiative will be launched as a part of the website’s paid subscription service, YouTube Premium. Susanne Daniels, Global Head, Original Content, YouTube said it will be produced in local languages and subtitled or dubbed for other markets.

“We are targeting markets where we believe we have a tremendous upside in potential subscribers,” Daniels said.

YouTube recently launched a talk show in Hindi about cricket called ‘Uncricket’.

The service will be announcing a slate of new international shows in the coming weeks.
