Your options: Sky customers face huge rise to costs within weeks
Sky has announced price increases by an average of 6.2% for almost all of its broadband and TV customers in April 2025.
Devesh Raj, Chief Operating Officer at Sky, confirmed the price hike: “From April, our TV and broadband packages will increase by an average of 6.2%, which is either in line with or lower than other providers. Over the last four years, our prices have broadly increased in line with inflation, reflecting our ongoing commitment to fair and transparent pricing.
“I’m pleased to confirm that the cost of our broadband and mobile social tariff will be frozen once again, protecting our most vulnerable customers and ensuring they continue to have access to essential services.
“We will be reaching out to every customer impacted in the coming weeks, to provide clarity about how their products and services will be affected.”
BizAsia looks at what you need to know about Sky’s annual price increase.
Who is affected?
This price increase affects most Sky television and broadband customers. Sky will be contacting every customer that is impacted by this year’s changes, providing full clarity on how their products and services will be affected.
The following customers will be exempted from the price increase:
-
Sky customers identified by the provider as ‘vulnerable’
-
Sky broadband and mobile social tariff users
Television
Customers of Sky Q TV or Sky Stream will have to pay early termination fees if you want to cancel your TV contract. This also applies if you pay for a broadband and TV bundle – you’ll be able to cancel your broadband for free but will likely have to move onto a TV-only tariff with Sky.

Broadband
Sky will let you leave your broadband contract early for free as a result of this price rise. Once you receive your price increase confirmation, get in touch with Sky within 30 days.
What are my options?
If you have broadband with Sky, you will be able to cancel free as long as you contact Sky within 30 days of receiving confirmation of the price increase on your account. You will need to look at other broadband providers like Virgin Media and EE.
Television options for Sky Q TV, Sky Stream, or Sky Glass customers are limited if you are still in contract. Your options are to stick with Sky and pay for the increase. Leave Sky mid-contract and pay a termination fee for cancelling early. Another option is to wait until the end of your contract where you can leave Sky without any charges. Other providers similar to Sky television are Virgin Media, EE and Freeview.
Asian channel providers
Sky offers the largest range of Asian channels on it’s television platform, from Utsav Plus to ZEE TV, Sony and Colors to news channels like Aaj Tak, NDTV, Geo News and Pakistani providers like Hum TV, Geo TV, Prime – the offering is vast.
Virgin Media are the next closest in the offering of Asian TV channels. They offer fewer channels than Sky but still offers the leading channels like ZEE TV, Utsav Plus, Sony and Colors.
